Been tracking MVP futures across books and 30Bet has McDavid locked at +850 since November 15th while other books moved him from +650 to +1200 after the Oilers' 6-game skid. Every other major prop adjusts daily but this one's been static for 18 days.

Checked with their live chat twice - first agent said "odds update automatically" and the second claimed it's "under review by trading team" but couldn't give a timeline. Meanwhile MacKinnon moved from +1400 to +950 on the same board during that span.

Current 30Bet vs market comparison

  • McDavid: 30Bet +850 | Market consensus +1150
  • MacKinnon: 30Bet +950 | Market consensus +900
  • Pastrnak: 30Bet +1200 | Market consensus +1400

The +850 represents decent value if it's legit, but feels like either a technical glitch or they're avoiding liability on a popular future. Anyone else locked into stale odds there or is this isolated to the Hart Trophy board?

That's not a glitch, that's 30Bet protecting themselves. They probably took heavy action on McDavid early season when he was flying and now they're stuck holding the bag. Freezing the line prevents more liability while they figure out their exposure.

Same thing happened with their Stanley Cup futures last April - Bruins stayed at +180 for 8 days after they choked in Round 1 while every other book had them at +2500. It's shady but not technically illegal since you agreed to their terms.

Had this exact situation with 30Bet back in October on a Flames win total. Locked at Over 95.5 points for 12 days while Calgary was getting destroyed and every other book dropped to 88.5. I kept hammering the under everywhere else but couldn't get my original bet cancelled.

Turns out their trading software has manual overrides for "high-risk positions" and some junior trader was probably told to freeze anything McDavid-related after they got burned early. I ended up emailing their risk management directly and got a generic response about "market volatility protocols."

The funny part is I actually hit a 30Bet parlay that same week because their player props were still updating normally - just the futures board that was frozen. Made

40 on a 4-leg NHL parlay while complaining about their stale MVP odds. Sometimes their dysfunction works in your favor if you know how to navigate it.

Wait so if I bet McDavid at +850 right now and he actually wins MVP, they have to honor that price even though it's way off market? 🤔 Seems like free money if you can get the bet down before they fix it.

This reminds me of ice fishing when the hole starts freezing over - you know something's not right but you keep your line in hoping for a miracle bite. 30Bet's been pulling this stale odds trick since at least 2019 when I first started tracking their hockey futures.

Back then it was Crosby Conn Smythe odds that stayed at +400 for three weeks while Pittsburgh got swept in Round 1. I called it the "ostrich strategy" - stick your head in the sand and hope the problem goes away. The real issue is their risk management team probably consists of two guys in Malta who've never seen a hockey puck.

But here's the kicker - I actually made decent money that season because their player prop algorithms kept running while futures were frozen. Hit three straight McDavid assists props at inflated odds because their overnight updates weren't factoring in the MVP line movement. Sometimes fishing in murky waters pays off.

You're all missing the obvious play here. Bet McDavid +850 at 30Bet, then hedge MacKinnon at every other book around +900. Either McDavid hits and you're up 2-3 units, or MacKinnon wins and you break even minus juice.

But watch your limits - 30Bet will flag your account if you're only hitting their stale lines. I got restricted to $50 max futures after exploiting their frozen tennis odds last summer. Sometimes the free lunch comes with a side of account closure.

This is standard operating procedure for offshore books when they're overleveraged. BetOnline keeps their lines moving because they've got the bankroll and risk management to handle volatility, but smaller operations like 30Bet just freeze up when the heat gets too high.

The real question is whether they'll honor the +850 if McDavid goes on a tear and wins it. I'd bet small and see what happens - worst case they void it and you're out nothing.

Brooklyn Benny's spot on about the freeze-up pattern, but 30Bet's been doing this way longer than just when they're overleveraged. I tracked their Hart Trophy odds through March 2023 and they kept Pastrnak locked at +650 for 18 straight days while every other book moved him from +720 to +480 after that 4-goal game against Detroit.

The real tell isn't the stale McDavid line - it's that they're still offering MacKinnon at +1100 when he's sitting at +850 everywhere else. That's not risk management, that's just lazy line management hoping sharp money doesn't notice the arbitrage opportunities.

That 18-day Pastrnak freeze you tracked is exactly what I'm seeing on live props too. 30Bet will lock McDavid assists O/U 1.5 at -110 for entire periods while Tenobet moves theirs from -125 to +105 based on actual ice time and line matchups.

The hedge play Grumpy mentioned works until 30Bet starts limiting your futures action to $47 max bets. Happened to my buddy in December when he kept hammering their stale Draisaitl Hart odds at +1200 while everyone else had moved to +850.
