BetOnline has Canucks -1.5 vs Sharks tonight at +112, which looks decent on paper since San Jose is 2-11 on the road. But Vancouver is 1-6 ATS as home favorites this season, and they've been winning ugly — five of their last seven home wins came by exactly one goal.

The line opened at -1.5 -115 this morning and moved to +112 by 2 PM, which suggests some sharp money on the under or Sharks +1.5. Pettersson's been cold with 2 goals in his last 9 games, and Demko's questionable after taking that shot off the mask Tuesday.

Anyone else seeing value on the other side here? The Sharks are trash but they've covered 4 of their last 6 as road dogs of +1.5 or more.

That Canucks home favorite trend is brutal but not surprising. They're the definition of a team that plays down to competition. Sharks might be garbage but they've got nothing to lose and Blackwood actually looked decent in their last two starts.

Had a similar situation last month with the Flames as home favorites against Columbus. Calgary was -1.5 at +105, looked like easy money against a rebuilding team. Flames won 3-2 but didn't cover, and I learned my lesson about betting spreads on teams that can't blow anyone out.

Checked the Canucks' recent games and you're right about those one-goal wins. They beat Detroit 2-1, edged Ottawa 3-2, and squeaked past Chicago 4-3 in OT. Even when they're clearly the better team, they find ways to keep it close. The +112 on that spread is tempting but I'm staying away. BetOnline might have the best hockey lines but this feels like a trap.

The line movement tells the story here. When a spread goes from -115 to +112 in six hours, the sharps are definitely on the other side. I've been tracking BetOnline's NHL lines all season and they don't give away +112 on spreads unless there's legitimate two-way action.

Pettersson's cold streak is concerning but the bigger issue is Vancouver's defensive lapses. They're allowing 3.2 goals per game over their last 10, which means even bad offensive teams like San Jose can hang around. The Sharks scored 4 against Edmonton last week and took Vegas to overtime two games ago.

I'm leaning towards Sharks +1.5 at the better price, probably around -135. Small unit play focusing on value rather than chasing that juicy +112 that screams public trap.

Live betting might be the play here. If Canucks jump out 2-0 early, you can grab Sharks +2.5 or +3.5 at plus money. If it's tied after one period, the original -1.5 becomes even more questionable.

Watched their last meeting in November and Vancouver dominated shots 38-22 but only won 2-1. That's exactly the type of game that kills spread bettors. MyStake usually has the best in-play hockey odds if you want to wait and see how this develops.

Been following this Canucks team all season and that home favorite record isn't a fluke. They consistently play down to their competition, especially against teams with nothing to lose. Remember when they barely beat Arizona 3-2 in November? Or that embarrassing 4-3 OT win against Anaheim where they blew a 3-0 lead?

The Demko injury situation makes this even sketchier. If Silovs starts, he's been shaky in limited action this season. Gave up 4 goals on 28 shots against Minnesota and looked overwhelmed. Even with Demko healthy, Vancouver's defensive structure has been questionable lately.

San Jose might be terrible overall but they've shown life recently. Blackwood stopped 34 of 36 shots against Colorado, and Hertl's been creating chances even if the finish isn't there. At +1.5, they just need to keep it within two goals against a team that rarely blows anyone out. The value is definitely on the underdog here, regardless of what the record books say.

@prairiepuckster exactly right about that Arizona game — I had Canucks -2.5 that night and watched them sleepwalk through the third period up 2-0. Coyotes outshot them 14-8 in the final frame and nearly tied it twice.

That 1-6 ATS record as home favorites isn't bad luck, it's who they are. They get comfortable with leads and coast. Sharks are 4-1-1 in their last 6 as road dogs of +1.5 or more because teams like Vancouver assume it's an easy cover. Donbet has Sharks +1.5 at +105 which is better juice than BetOnline's -112 on the Canucks side.

That Arizona game @torontotiltmaster mentioned was brutal to watch — had the Canucks ML in a parlay and they looked like they were playing not to lose once they got up 2-0. Same story with that Anaheim game @prairiepuckster brought up. Vancouver gets a lead and just stops forechecking, lets the other team control possession.

The Sharks are exactly the type of team that'll capitalize on that passive approach. They've got nothing to play for but individual pride, which makes them dangerous against complacent favorites. BetOnline has been sharp on these Canucks home spots all season — their 1-6 ATS record as favorites isn't coincidence.

That 14-8 shot differential @torontotiltmaster mentioned in the Arizona third period is exactly what kills the puck line. I've been tracking Vancouver's third period shot attempts when leading by 2+ goals and they're averaging just 6.2 shots compared to 11.8 in the first two periods. Sharks might be trash but they'll get their looks once Vancouver goes into shell mode.

The +112 on https://dro.kagonst.com/redirect.aspx?pid=152243&bid=1986&lpid=47&var=86ahkcutx for that -1.5 is actually decent juice compared to what I'm seeing stateside, but that 1-6 ATS record as home favorites tells the whole story. Vancouver's been getting outshot 31-28 on average in those seven games despite the home ice advantage.
