Spotted this line on multiple books today - McDavid anytime goal at +165 for tonight's Battle of Alberta. Normally I'd jump on anything above +150 for Connor, but the Oilers are coming off that 4-3 OT win against Vegas last night.

McDavid logged 23:47 TOI yesterday including 4:12 on the power play. He's been money lately with 8 goals in his last 11 games, but that back-to-back situation has me second-guessing. Calgary's been solid defensively at home, allowing just 2.1 goals per game over their last 8 at the Saddledome.

The line opened at +145 this morning and has drifted to +165 across most books. Either the market knows something about his ice time management tonight, or this could be solid value on a tired McDavid still being McDavid.

That line movement tells the whole story - sharp money is fading McDavid tonight. Back-to-backs are brutal for skill players who rely on burst speed. Even if he plays his usual 22+ minutes, the legs just aren't there for those explosive first steps that create his prime scoring chances.

Calgary's penalty kill has been excellent at home too, sitting at 87% over their last 10. If Edmonton's power play struggles, McDavid loses his best opportunity for a gimme goal.

I've been tracking McDavid's back-to-back performance all season and the numbers are telling. In 8 games on zero rest, he's managed just 3 goals compared to his 0.71 goals per game average on full rest. The drop-off is real.

What's interesting is his shot volume barely changes - still averaging 4.2 shots per game on back-to-backs. But his shooting percentage drops from 18.3% to 9.8%. The quality chances just aren't there when he's grinding through fatigue.

I've been using BetOnline for these props because they post early lines and you can catch value before the market adjusts. Their McDavid under 0.5 goals at +190 might be the better play here - Calgary's home defensive structure has been suffocating lately.

The Flames have allowed just 11 goals in their last 6 home games. Even a rested McDavid would have his work cut out tonight.

You're all overthinking this. McDavid on a bad day is still better than 90% of the league on their best day. +165 is gift-wrapped value regardless of the back-to-back.

The back-to-back angle has merit, but I'm more concerned about Woodcroft's line deployment tonight. If they're managing McDavid's minutes and keeping him around 20 TOI instead of his usual 23+, that's fewer opportunities in prime scoring situations.

Edmonton's been rolling four lines more evenly on back-to-backs this season. McDavid's power play time might stay consistent, but those 5-on-5 minutes in the offensive zone could take a hit. At +165, I need to see his usual ice time commitment to feel confident about the bet.

Had a similar situation last month with the McDavid anytime goal prop when Edmonton played back-to-back against Montreal. The line was sitting pretty at +155 and I couldn't resist - figured even a tired McDavid against Montreal's defense was easy money.

Well, McDavid played 19:43 that night, his lowest TOI in weeks. Got just one power play shift because Edmonton was chasing the game early. He managed 3 shots but they were all from the perimeter - none of those trademark McDavid chances where he's bearing down on the goalie.

The lesson I learned was that back-to-backs don't just affect his energy, they change how Woodcroft uses him. The coach starts thinking about preserving him for the next game, especially in a long season. Tonight feels like one of those spots where McDavid gets his points on assists but doesn't get those prime goal-scoring opportunities.

I've been shopping this prop across books and Tonybet actually has the best number at +170. If you're still leaning toward backing him, that's where I'd place it. But honestly, I'm staying away tonight - too many red flags for a prop that should be closer to +130 on a normal night.

Took McDavid anytime goal at +155 this morning before the line moved. Sometimes you just have to trust generational talent, fatigue or not. He's found ways to score in worse spots than this.

That 19:43 TOI you mentioned against Montreal is exactly why this +165 line is fool's gold. Woodcroft's been cutting McDavid's minutes on the second night of back-to-backs all season - I tracked it after getting burned on a similar prop in November. He averaged 21:47 TOI in October but that drops to 19:12 on back-to-back nights.

The real kicker is Calgary's been clogging up the neutral zone against elite forwards lately. They held Pastrnak to 4 shots on goal last week and MacKinnon to just 2 SOG in that 3-1 loss to Colorado. McDavid might be generational talent, but he's not scoring without shots, and tired legs on reduced ice time against a structured Flames defense isn't the recipe for cashing that anytime goal prop.

That 21:47 to 19:43 TOI drop you're tracking is the key data point here. I've been logging Woodcroft's deployment patterns since mid-November and the back-to-back minute management is consistent - McDavid's ice time drops an average of 2:14 on the second night, but more importantly his even-strength shifts get compressed from his usual 4-line rotation to more of a 3-line look when they're protecting him.

The real issue isn't just the 19:43 total ice time - it's that 14:12 of even-strength time versus his season average of 16:38. When McDavid's even-strength opportunities shrink like that, the anytime goal prop loses serious value even at +165. Calgary's penalty kill has been decent at home too, sitting at 81.2% over their last 10, so you're really banking on McDavid finding one at even-strength with reduced deployment.

That 2:14 TOI drop is solid data but you're missing the situational angle - McDavid's even-strength shots per 60 actually tick UP to 11.2 on back-to-backs versus his season average of 10.6. Woodcroft shortens the bench but concentrates McDavid's minutes in higher-leverage spots.

I've been tracking shot location heat maps since December and his slot attempts stay consistent at 3.1 per game regardless of TOI. The +165 price factors in the fatigue narrative but not the deployment efficiency. Worth a small unit at that number.

That 11.2 shots per 60 uptick is the angle everyone's missing here. I tracked McDavid through a similar spot in December when Edmonton played back-to-back against Montreal - his TOI dropped from 22:15 to 19:51 but he fired 8 shots in those compressed minutes. Woodcroft runs him harder in shorter bursts on the second night.

The real tell is Calgary's defensive zone coverage on back-to-backs. Sutter's been matching Lindholm's line against McDavid all season, but when the Flames played their own back-to-back in January, Lindholm averaged 18:23 TOI on the second night versus his usual 21:40. If Calgary's top defensive unit is similarly gassed tonight, those concentrated McDavid minutes could be gold at +165.

That 8 shots in 19:51 against Montreal is the exact pattern I've been banking on. McDavid's shot quality goes up when Woodcroft shortens his shifts - less coasting, more hunting pucks in the slot.

The +165 on Tonybet is still live and their odds movement usually trails the sharper books by 15-20 minutes. Worth a look before the line drops.
