Seeing Ehlers anytime goal at +185 for tonight's game against Detroit but the Jets have been brutal on the road lately - only 1.8 goals per game over their last 6 away contests. Ehlers has 2 goals in his last 8 games and Detroit's goaltending has been solid at home.

The line seems inflated given Winnipeg's recent road struggles. Ehlers is getting top-6 minutes but the Jets' powerplay is converting at just 14.2% over the last 10 games. Detroit allowing 2.4 goals per game at home over their last 7.

Anyone else seeing value elsewhere or is this worth a small play despite the team's road woes?

That +185 is a trap line. Jets road offense has been garbage and Ehlers isn't even getting prime powerplay time lately. Detroit's been locking down at home and their goalie carousel finally stabilized. Pass on this one completely.

Had a similar situation last month with McDavid props when Edmonton was struggling on the road. Took the anytime goal at +165 and watched him get shut out completely - Oilers managed just 1 goal total that night. The thing about road struggles is they compound, especially for skill players who rely on space and time.

Ehlers might be talented but when the whole team can't generate offense, individual props become coin flips at best. I've been tracking Jets road games and their shot quality has dropped significantly - lots of perimeter shots and limited high-danger chances. Detroit's defensive structure at home has been impressive, they're forcing teams to the outside consistently.

I'm staying away from Jets offensive props until they show some life on the road. The +185 might look tempting but it's priced that way for good reason. Better value hunting elsewhere tonight.

Been tracking road team anytime goal props all season and the numbers tell a clear story. When a team is averaging under 2 goals per game on the road over a 6+ game stretch, individual goal props become massive longshots regardless of the player's talent level.

I remember a similar spot with Boston earlier this season - Pastrnak anytime goal was sitting at +175 when the Bruins were in a road scoring drought. Looked like easy money given his skill level, but team context matters more than individual talent in these situations. The Bruins got shut out that night and Pastrnak barely registered a quality chance.

The Jets' road powerplay struggles make this even worse - Ehlers gets most of his goals with the man advantage, and 14.2% conversion over 10 games is brutal. Detroit's penalty kill at home has been solid too. I'd need +250 or better to consider this prop given all the context.

Actually think there might be some value here if you dig deeper into the matchup specifics. Detroit's been good defensively but they've also been giving up quality chances to skilled wingers in transition. Ehlers' speed could create problems if the Jets can get some odd-man rushes going.

The road scoring struggles are concerning but sample sizes matter - 6 games isn't huge and Winnipeg's underlying numbers suggest they've been unlucky. Their expected goals on the road are higher than their actual output. Sometimes these props offer value when public perception gets too negative.

I'm not going heavy but a small play at +185 could hit if Tenobet keeps that line available. Their NHL props usually have decent limits and quick payouts when you hit.

New to hockey betting - what should I be looking at besides the basic stats? Is 1.8 goals per game really that bad for road teams? And how much does powerplay percentage actually matter for anytime goal props?

The mathematical breakdown here is fascinating. At +185, you're getting 35.1% implied probability, but when you factor in Ehlers' baseline goal rate (0.65 goals per game this season) against his recent form (0.25 goals per game over last 8), the true probability drops significantly below that threshold.

I've been tracking similar props all season and road team context creates a 23% negative adjustment on average for skilled forwards. Detroit's home defensive metrics show they're allowing 15% fewer high-danger chances than league average, which further reduces Ehlers' expected output.

The Jets' 14.2% powerplay conversion is 8.3 percentage points below league average, and Ehlers derives roughly 40% of his goals from man-advantage situations. When you run the numbers through a basic expected value calculation, this prop has negative equity at +185.

Better spots available tonight - MyStake has some interesting player shot props that offer better mathematical value based on usage rates and recent form.

The 0.25 goals per game over his last 8 that QuebecQuantum cited is the real killer here. Ehlers might have the speed advantage against Detroit's defense, but when a guy's shooting 6.8% over his last month compared to his season average of 11.2%, you're basically betting on variance correction at inflated odds.

Detroit's been allowing 2.4 goals per game at home since January 15th - that's not some leaky defense getting torched by transition plays. The Wings have actually tightened up their neutral zone coverage significantly. At +185 you need roughly 35% probability but Ehlers' recent form suggests closer to 22-25% based on his shot volume and quality.

That 6.8% shooting percentage over the last month that torontotiltmaster mentioned is exactly what killed me on a similar Ehlers prop three weeks back. I had him at +165 against Nashville, watched him get 5 quality shots including a breakaway in the second period, and nothing. The shooting slump is real.

What's interesting though is Ehlers' ice time has actually increased to 17:42 per game over this cold stretch, so it's not like he's being buried. Sometimes these shooting percentages correct hard when a guy's been getting the looks but not finishing. Detroit's allowing 3.1 goals per game at home over their last 6, so the matchup isn't terrible either.

That 6.8% shooting percentage maritimemaverick mentioned is brutal, but here's the in-play angle nobody's talking about: Ehlers' shot volume is still there at 3.2 attempts per game over this stretch. The variance correction torontotiltmaster referenced could hit mid-game if Winnipeg gets an early lead and starts pressing offense.

I've been tracking live odds movement on BetOnline for similar props - they typically bump anytime goal odds 15-20 points higher after the first period if the player's already registered 2+ shots. With Detroit's road penalty kill at 76.4% this season, any Ehlers powerplay opportunity could flip that +185 into live value around +220-240 range.

That 3.2 shots per game Vegas Maple Syrup mentioned is the key metric everyone's missing. When you break down Ehlers' shot locations over this 8-game stretch, he's still generating 1.4 high-danger chances per game compared to his season average of 1.6. The 6.8% shooting percentage is unsustainable regression from his career 10.9% mark.

Here's the prop value read: at +185, you need Ehlers to convert roughly 35% of the time to break even. His anytime goal rate over the last 24 months sits at 42% when generating 3+ shots, which he's done in 6 of these last 8 games despite the scoring drought. The BetOnline market is pricing in the recent cold streak without adjusting for his maintained shot volume and quality.
