Seeing some interesting movement on Edmonton's team total tonight vs LA. Books opened O/U 3.5 goals at -110 both ways around 10am, but I'm noticing the Under creeping to -105 on a couple sites after practice reports.

McDavid took that nasty cross-check from Doughty in the third period Saturday and apparently was doing modified drills today - skating but avoiding contact. No official injury designation yet, but if he's not 100% that's a massive impact on their offensive output.

Edmonton's averaging 3.8 goals per game this season, but that drops to 2.9 in games where McDavid logs under 20 minutes. LA's allowing 2.6 goals at home over their last 8. Anyone else tracking this line movement or have insights on Connor's status?

You're chasing ghosts on this one. McDavid's played through way worse than some rib soreness - remember when he had that separated shoulder and still put up 2 points against Nashville? Limited practice means nothing with elite players, they coast through Wednesday skates anyway. Oilers offense doesn't revolve around one guy despite what TSN tells you.

I was at Rogers Place for the Sharks game two weeks back when Draisaitl was questionable with that ankle thing. Similar situation - limited morning skate, no contact, all the usual precautionary stuff. Come game time he logged 22:47 and set up McDavid for the overtime winner. These guys are machines.

That said, I'm seeing the same line drift you mentioned. BetOnline had it at even money this morning and now the Under's sitting at -108. LA's defensive structure at home has been solid - they've held 6 of their last 9 opponents under 3 goals at Crypto.com. Quick's been sharp between the pipes, posting a .924 save percentage over his last 12 starts.

Still think Edmonton finds a way to 4 goals though. Their power play converts at 28.4% and LA takes too many stick infractions trying to slow down their transition game. I'm staying Over despite the line movement.

McDavid or no McDavid, Edmonton's depth scoring has been clicking lately. Nugent-Hopkins has 6 goals in his last 8 games and their third line with Foegele-McLeod-Janmark has been creating chances. Even if Connor's playing at 80%, that's still better than most players at 100%.

I'm more concerned about LA's goaltending situation. Quick's been good but he's 38 and playing back-to-backs takes a toll. If Copley gets the nod instead, that changes everything - guy's been shaky giving up 3+ goals in 4 of his last 6 starts.

Had a similar situation last month with Boston when Pastrnak was dealing with that upper body issue. Books kept the Bruins team total at 3.5 despite him missing morning skate, and I hammered the Under thinking they'd struggle without their top scorer. Wrong move - Marchand stepped up with a hat trick and they scored 5 against Detroit.

The thing about Edmonton is their offensive system doesn't rely on individual brilliance as much as people think. They've got this cycle game on the power play where even if McDavid's not feeling 100%, Draisaitl can quarterback from the half-wall and they still generate quality looks. I've watched them put up 4+ goals in games where Connor was clearly laboring.

Line movement tells a story though. When sharp money hits the Under on a team that averages nearly 4 goals per game, there's usually inside information floating around. I'm staying away from this total - too much uncertainty for my liking. Rather take a player prop on Draisaitl anytime goal at +165 with Donbet if McDavid's compromised.

Ran the numbers on Edmonton's goal scoring with and without McDavid at full strength this season. When he logs 22+ minutes: 4.1 goals per game average. When under 20 minutes due to injury management: 2.8 goals per game. That's a significant drop-off that the books aren't fully accounting for.

LA's home defensive metrics support the Under as well - 2.4 expected goals against per game over their last 10 at Crypto.com Arena. Their neutral zone trap has been effective limiting Edmonton's transition opportunities in previous meetings this season.

Honestly just hoping for a good game! Been following McDavid since his junior days and the guy's tough as nails. Even if he's not 100%, Edmonton still has so much skill up front. Should be entertaining hockey either way!

That 2.8 goals per game when McDavid's under 20 minutes is the key stat here, but everyone's missing the obvious angle. Edmonton's averaging 4.7 goals against per game in their last 8 when Connor's dealing with any kind of knock. Defense gets sloppy when they're overcompensating for his reduced ice time.

LA's been sitting back in a 1-3-1 trap all season and Edmonton struggles to generate clean looks when they can't rely on McDavid carrying the puck through the neutral zone. I'm on the Under 3.5 and honestly think this stays under 6.5 total goals too.

That 4.7 goals against when McDavid's managing an injury is the angle I've been tracking. Edmonton's defensive structure completely changes when they're playing cautious with their star — less aggressive forechecking, defensemen staying home instead of jumping up. The result is more odd-man rushes against and longer defensive zone shifts.

Running the math on team total props when key players are compromised: Edmonton's O/U 3.5 goals has hit the Under in 6 of 8 games when McDavid logs under 20 minutes. But here's the kicker — LA's team total O/U 2.5 has gone Over in 4 of those same 8 games. The books are pricing Edmonton's offensive drop but not accounting for how it affects their defensive play.

That 4.7 goals against stat when McDavid's banged up is money, but here's the live angle everyone's sleeping on — Tonybet was posting live team totals at 3.0/3.5 during Edmonton's last injury game against Nashville, and the Over 3.0 hit by the 8-minute mark of the second period. When Connor's managing something like this rib issue, Edmonton actually opens up their offense early trying to build a cushion before he potentially sits later shifts.

Tracked this pattern in 6 games over the past two seasons where McDavid was listed as managing an injury but still played — Edmonton averages 2.1 goals in the first period compared to their usual 1.4. They know they might need to lean on depth scoring if he's compromised, so Woodcroft actually runs more 11-7 configurations early to get extra forwards more ice time.

That Tonybet live angle from Vegas Maple Syrup hits different when you've actually tracked it. I caught Edmonton's injury game against Colorado two weeks back when McDavid was nursing that shoulder knock — Tonybet had the live team total at 3.0 moving to 3.5 by the first TV timeout, and I grabbed Over 3.0 at +105 right before it shifted.

The defensive breakdown is real but here's what I noticed watching the bench — when Connor's managing something physical, Woodcroft starts double-shifting Draisaitl on different lines, which leaves gaps in their defensive zone coverage during changes. Edmonton gave up 2 goals in 47 seconds during that Colorado game, both on sloppy line changes when they were trying to get McDavid extra rest between shifts.

That Colorado game maritimemaverick mentioned is exactly the data point I've been tracking in my injury impact spreadsheet. McDavid's shoulder knock created a 0.8 goal differential in Edmonton's defensive zone exits per period — when he's managing an injury, their breakout success drops from 73.2% to 64.1%, which directly correlates to more sustained pressure and higher goal totals.

The key metric everyone's missing is faceoff win percentage in the defensive zone when McDavid's compromised. Against Colorado he was 4-for-11 on defensive draws compared to his season average of 52.8%. More defensive zone time equals more goals against, and that 4.7 goals against average when he's banged up isn't coincidence — it's systematic breakdown of their transition game.

For tonight's Kings matchup, I'm tracking whether Tonybet adjusts their live team total algorithm based on McDavid's limited practice status, because their live pricing was 0.2 goals slower to react during that Nashville game compared to the Colorado situation.
