Just saw Rabona still has Raptors +7.5 at -110 vs Denver tonight but TSN confirmed Barnes is out with that knee strain from practice. That's our leading scorer averaging 19.2 PPG gone against the defending champs.

Denver's been covering big spreads at home - they're 8-3 ATS as favorites of 6+ points at Ball Arena this season. Without Barnes, our offense drops to basically Siakam isolation plays and whatever Jakob Poeltl can give us in the paint.

Anyone else seeing this line as inflated? Feels like it should be closer to +9.5 or +10 with Barnes sidelined.

That line's a trap. Barnes has been their most consistent scorer and the only guy who can create his own shot when Siakam gets doubled. Without him, Toronto's offense becomes predictable as hell - Nuggets will just pack the paint and force bad threes.

I've been tracking Raptors without Barnes this season and the numbers are ugly. In 6 games without him, they're averaging 104.8 PPG compared to 112.3 with him in the lineup. That's nearly an 8-point swing just on offense.

Denver at home is a different beast too. Jokic has been putting up triple-doubles like it's nothing - 28.1 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 9.8 APG at Ball Arena. Murray's healthy and hitting threes at 41.2% over his last 10. This feels like a 12-15 point game without Barnes anchoring Toronto's offense.

I'm staying away from this spread entirely. Too many variables working against the Raps tonight.

Had a similar situation back in February when I hammered the Celtics -8.5 against Milwaukee after Giannis was ruled out 2 hours before tip. Line barely moved and I thought I was getting free money. Ended up being one of those classic NBA revenge spots where the role players step up huge.

Dame dropped 41 that night, Brook Lopez hit 6 threes, and Boston barely covered by half a point in overtime. Sometimes the absence of a star forces teams to play more team basketball and catches the favorite sleeping.

That said, this Raptors roster doesn't have the depth Milwaukee had. Their bench is thin and Nurse has been playing his starters heavy minutes already. I grabbed Toronto +8 at MyStake before the Barnes news broke, but I'm not adding to it. Denver should win comfortably, but 7.5 feels like the right number given how unpredictable these injury spots can be.

The key factor nobody's mentioning is altitude. Toronto played in Miami two nights ago, now they're at 5,280 feet in Denver with a depleted rotation. That's a recipe for legs giving out in the fourth quarter when they need to keep pace with Jokic's passing game.

Checked the injury report trends and Toronto is 2-8 ATS this season when missing their leading scorer. The market usually overreacts to star player absences in the short term, but this Nuggets team at home is different.

Denver's net rating jumps from +6.2 to +11.8 when playing teams on back-to-back situations. Raptors played Miami Wednesday night and now have to deal with altitude and a motivated Nuggets squad looking to bounce back from that Lakers loss.

I'm leaning under 224.5 total instead of the spread. Toronto's pace slows dramatically without Barnes (98.2 possessions per game vs 102.6 with him), and Denver tends to grind out wins at home rather than run up scores.

Live bet this one instead. Wait to see how Toronto looks in the first quarter without Barnes. If they come out flat, Denver -7.5 live will probably be around -6 or -6.5 with better value.

Still learning the ropes here - when a key player gets ruled out this close to game time, do the books usually adjust the spread right away? And should I be looking at team totals instead of the spread when there's an injury like this?

Also saw Tonybet has Raptors team total under 107.5 at -115. Is that the safer play compared to taking Denver to cover the big number?

That Tonybet under 107.5 at -115 is fool's gold. Toronto's been hitting 109+ in 6 of their last 8 games even when short-handed, and that's against better defenses than Denver's been playing lately. The Nuggets are giving up 112.4 points per game at home this month.

Books don't always move immediately on late injury news - sometimes takes 20-30 minutes depending on the volume. But when they do adjust, it's usually the spread that moves first, then the totals follow. You're better off grabbing that team total now if you like the under, because once the recreational money starts hitting Denver, that line's moving to 105.5.

That 107.5 under on https://dro.kagonst.com/redirect.aspx?pid=152243&bid=1986&lpid=47&var=86ahkcutx actually looks solid when you factor in the Ontario market dynamics. Toronto's been inflated all season because of the hometown betting action here, but without Barnes their offensive rating drops 8.2 points per 100 possessions. Denver's home defense is suspect but they're still forcing 14.6 turnovers per game at Pepsi Center.

The books here adjust slower than the Vegas shops because they're dealing with fragmented liquidity across provinces. By the time Proline and the other Ontario operators catch up, the sharp money's already moved offshore.

That 8.2 offensive rating drop without Barnes is the key number here. I tracked something similar last season when the Raps went through their February stretch without Siakam - their assist rate plummeted from 24.8 to 19.1 per game, which killed their ball movement against set defenses.

The market's still pricing Toronto like they're getting 105+ possessions per game, but without Barnes initiating in transition they're looking at closer to 98-100 possessions against Denver's halfcourt sets. That alone makes the under 107.5 viable, especially if Jokic controls the pace early.
