Looking at Thursday's Raptors vs Celtics and the team total is sitting at O/U 112.5 points. Problem is Barnes tweaked his ankle during Tuesday's practice and is listed as questionable. He's been averaging 19.8 points per game and is their primary facilitator in transition.

The Celtics are allowing 108.4 points per game at home, but that's with teams at full strength. If Barnes sits, that's a massive hole in their offensive flow. Siakam can't carry the entire load against Boston's defense.

Anyone have insight on how serious this ankle issue might be? The line hasn't moved much yet but I'm wondering if we're getting value on the under here.

Had a similar situation last month with the Leafs when Matthews was questionable with that wrist issue. The books kept the team total high until about 2 hours before puck drop, then it crashed once the lineup was confirmed. Ended up hitting the under by 1.5 goals.

With Barnes, you're not just losing the 19.8 points per game - you're losing their best transition player. Raptors score 28% of their points in transition when he's on the floor versus 16% without him. That's a massive drop-off against a Celtics team that forces teams into half-court sets.

I've been tracking injury impacts all season and teams typically score 8-12 points below their season average when losing a primary ball handler. The ankle thing sounds minor but if he can't push the pace, Toronto's offense becomes very predictable. Leaning under 112.5 but waiting for more news from shootaround.

This screams trap line to me. Books know something we don't about Barnes' status. If he was truly questionable, that total would be closer to 109.5 by now.

Toronto's been garbage without their top guys all season. Take the under and don't overthink it.

I'm actually seeing some value on the over here. Checked Tenobet this morning and they have alternate lines at 115.5 for better odds. Even without Barnes, the Raptors have been shooting 38% from three over their last 6 games.

Siakam had 31 points against Boston earlier this season when Barnes missed time with that thumb injury. Sometimes losing a facilitator forces other guys to be more aggressive. The Celtics defense hasn't been as locked in at home lately either - they gave up 118 to Orlando last week.

Ran the numbers on this and it's not as clear-cut as it seems. Barnes' usage rate is 22.1% but his assist rate is even more important - 6.8 assists per game creates about 16-18 additional points through his playmaking.

However, Toronto's offensive rating actually improves by 3.2 points per 100 possessions when they run through Siakam in the post versus Barnes in transition. The Celtics struggle more with half-court offense than fast breaks anyway.

The ankle injury is concerning but practice reports suggest he's moving normally. Been using Rabona for their live betting options during warmups - they usually have the best read on late injury news. Might wait and see how he looks during pregame.

Barnes or no Barnes, 112.5 feels high for a team that's been inconsistent all season. Celtics at home are a different beast.

Been tracking this all week on my spreadsheet. Barnes' injury status has created a 4-point swing in projected team totals across different models. The concerning part isn't just his scoring - it's the pace impact. Raptors average 101.2 possessions per game with Barnes versus 96.8 without him.

That's 4-5 fewer possessions which translates to roughly 8-10 fewer points even if shooting percentages stay constant. Factor in Boston's home defense allowing just 42.1% from the field and this under starts looking very appealing at 112.5.

That 96.8 possessions without Barnes is the key number here. I've been tracking this live and the 4-point model swing vancoverbetty mentioned is showing up in real-time line movement too. BetOnline dropped from 113 to 112 this morning but their live totals are still pricing in the faster pace scenario.

The assist rate impact is huge but everyone's missing the defensive rebounds angle. Barnes averages 7.8 defensive boards and without him, Toronto's transition offense drops from 18.2% of possessions to 14.1%. That's where the real scoring differential shows up against Boston's half-court defense.

That 96.8 possessions number from @vancoverbetty is exactly what I've been tracking too. But here's the deeper cut - Raptors are averaging 1.17 points per possession with Barnes versus 1.09 without him over their last 15 games. Even at the slower pace, you're looking at 105.5 projected points (96.8 x 1.09) versus 118.4 with him healthy (101.2 x 1.17).

The MyStake live total dropped to 111.5 about an hour ago, which suggests the market is pricing Barnes as doubtful rather than questionable. If he's confirmed out 90 minutes before tip, this line crashes to 108-109 range based on historical adjustments.

That 1.17 versus 1.09 points per possession split from @Prop Propheteer is where everyone's getting burned. You're all doing the math on 105.5 projected points without Barnes, but the Celtics defense is allowing 108.2 points per game to teams missing their second-leading scorer this season. That's a 2.7-point bump nobody's pricing in.

The real kicker? Toronto's bench unit shoots 31.4% from three without Barnes on the floor versus 36.8% with him. At 96.8 possessions, that's easily another 3-4 points off your projection. Under 112.5 is looking like the sharp side here.

That 108.2 points allowed to teams missing their second scorer is the number I've been waiting for someone to drop. But here's what's getting missed - the Celtics have only faced 7 teams this season in that exact scenario, and 4 of those games were back-to-backs where Boston was also compromised. The sample's too thin to lean heavy.

I've been tracking this cross-border and seeing Tonybet still holding 112.5 while the US books are sliding to 111.5. That spread usually means the sharp money's coming in on the under but the recreational Canadian action is propping up the higher number. Worth noting the Raptors shot 31% from three in their last Barnes-less game versus Miami - regression alone puts them closer to that 105.5 projection.

That 7-team sample size from @Big Bend Brody is the issue everyone's dancing around. But here's the Ontario angle - Tooniebet moved their alternate spreads on this total three times today, settling at O/U 111.5 at -125 both ways. They're clearly seeing two-way action on the Barnes impact.

The Celtics allowing 108.2 to teams missing their second scorer sounds sharp until you realize 4 of those 7 games were against Western Conference teams on the second night of back-to-backs. Toronto's playing at home on two days rest here.

That Tooniebet line movement from @Dundas Danielle tells the real story here. When a book moves an alternate total three times in one day and settles at -125 juice both ways, they're not just balancing action - they're protecting against sharp money that knows something. I've been tracking their NBA alternate totals for six weeks, and they only flatten to -125/-125 when their traders are genuinely split on the true number.

The Barnes ankle sprain is getting overplayed by the public. Toronto's offensive efficiency without Barnes this season is actually 111.2 points per 100 possessions, compared to 109.8 with him on the court. The real factor everyone's missing is Boston's road defense against teams on zero days rest - they're allowing 4.3 more points per game in that spot, and Toronto just played Monday night.

That -125 juice both ways at Tooniebet from @calgarycardcounter is exactly backwards from what sharp action creates. When books get real sharp money, they shade the line and widen the spread between sides - they don't balance at equal juice. What you're seeing at -125/-125 is recreational two-way action from people overthinking the Barnes situation.

The real tell here is Boston's 4-game home sample against teams missing their #2 scorer this season: 119, 106, 114, 103 points allowed. That 110.5 average includes two blowouts where garbage time inflated totals. Strip those fourth quarters and you're looking at regulation scoring closer to 105 points - which puts this total 7-8 points too high even without Barnes.
